Perfect Start Puppy Course

For puppies under and around 20 weeks

This is a 6 week course which will involve you training your puppy in a class with other puppies and their humans. Our course puts the focus on understanding your puppy’s behaviour so that you feel confident to support and manage them as they grow so that they develop into a well-rounded, well behaved adult dog.

This course covers the following:

Teaching puppy to know and respond to its name
Laying the foundations of walking without pulling
Coming back when called (recall)
Building trust through handling
How to promote calmness through mental stimulation
Motivating your puppy through play
How to socialise your puppy the right way and manage the pitfalls
Confidence building and promotion
Sit, down, stand, middle
Appropriate greetings of people and other dogs (not jumping)
The foundations of “leave it”
Dog body language for beginners

Welcome Home Puppy Package

For puppies under 6 months

This is a great option for those who have brought home a new puppy and want to build their own confidence in understanding and providing the best start for their puppy through a combination of group classes and a private 1-2-1 session.

The Welcome Home Puppy Package includes:

1 x 1-2-1 home consultation covering toilet training, puppies first night and sleeping arrangements, puppy biting, suitable play, early socialisation etc plus a written training/action plan. This can be taken prior to your puppy’s arrival or in the first few days/weeks once they are home.
A place on one of our 6-week puppy courses
A puppy training book
A training treat package

One to One Puppy Foundation Training Course

This flexible 4 week course covers everything that is covered in our Perfect Start puppy course (see above) and is packed with useful information and skills to get you on the right track with your canine friend in the comfort of your own home, plus you get the opportunity to discuss any puppy concerns with us.

Our 1-2-1 individual sessions are ideal for those who are unable to attend a 6 week course due to other commitments or who feel they would prefer to learn in the privacy of their own home environment, or for those dogs who would struggle in a class type environment where other dogs and people are present.

You will receive a certificate, rosette and training treat package on completion.

Puppy Socialisation Support

Socialisation and habituation are key to having a well rounded puppy but can be really difficult to navigate. Young puppies are like sponges, soaking up everything around them. Up until around the age of 16 weeks they are most open to new experiences, so it is important to introduce and carefully and safely expose them to lots of different experiences during this time as this will help shape their behaviour and confidence in new situations in the future. Some of the things they should be exposed to include:

Different textured surfaces
Unsteady and uneven flooring (e.g. ramps, steps, bridges etc.)
Sounds (e.g. traffic, fireworks etc.)
Novel sights (e.g. umbrellas, wheelie bins etc.)
Different types of people
Different types of dogs
Vehicles and travel
Shops and shopping centres
The sight of other animals (e.g. horses, sheep, cows etc) – please note that your puppy must always be kept on a lead around livestock

It can feel overwhelming for new owners when they think about the time they need to spend socialising their puppy, especially since life is busy with other commitments such as taking care of children, going to work etc. Our puppy socialisation sessions help to support you with this as we will do lots of this important socialisation work for you. Our package includes the following:

4 x 50 minute socialisation sessions (45 minutes of training/socialisation and 5 minutes at the end to hand over to you)
A personalised training/socialisation plan with goals set for you
Support via WhatsApp
Guided socialisation session on week 2 where you are welcome to attend, should you wish to.
A full handover on week 4
Intense, and focused support

Both our pups have done training courses with Through The Dogs Eyes and both have fully enjoyed it, they are fun classes that are something to enjoy with your dog while learning about their behaviour and body language, and also teaching them useful tricks you can use in the real world Our pups are always so happy to attend classes, and its really helped us bond, couldnt recommend them more

Since Kit visited on the first session, the knowledge and time she spent with not just my labradoodle but my other dogs was incredible! I have a whole bank of tools and knowledge to help my labradoodle in different environments. In just 7 weeks, Kit has helped my labradoodle and he is so much more happier and relaxed around dogs and people. I would recommend Kit to anybody she is extremely knowledgeable and always provides feedback on my dogs training. As first time puppy owners we have hugely appreciated the fantastic level of support we've had from Kit & Sarah over the last few months. Before we brought Mocha home we purchased their Welcome Home Puppy package, and Kit came round to our house with loads of useful advice on everything from puppy's first night to toilet training, which really helped set our minds at rest over what was to come. When Mocha was 3 months old she started the puppy training course, and we were really impressed with Kit & Sarah's teaching methods and the small class sizes. Mocha loved the class environment so much we have continued on with the Superstars class, and she is currently working towards her Kennel Club bronze certificate at only 7 months old! Kit & Sarah also do regular puppy pop in visits and walks for us during the week when we're busy with work, and Mocha adores spending time with them both - we get a photo diary shortly after each visit, and it's great to see pictures of all the adventures she's been on that day. They have also both been a huge support in answering all sorts of questions for us, ranging from how to find the right harness to helping us get to the bottom of tummy troubles. We would highly recommend Kit & Sarah to anyone looking for training or support with their dogs, as they are both amazing!

We were quite nervous to start our pups but the trainers completely put us all at ease and each class felt very useful and relaxed. We loved the emphasis on understanding them through their experience and this helped with bonding and teaching our little boy to respect dogs. They both improved a lot and family/friends have remarked on the change/how well behaved they can be. I’d definitely recommend this class if you’re thinking of giving your puppy a great start!

The 6 week course we completed was fantastic. Kit and Sarah were very informative and helpful and taught us so many things to help Mabel. You get access to a private Facebook group and they upload videos of everything covered in classes so you never miss anything. They were always friendly, supportive and encouraging. They were always happy to help if you were stuck. In the last session you get a certificate and goodie bag which was a lovely touch too. Thanks again for all your help. You were great!
